Pidgin does not respond after I send any text to my friend

Bug #294080 reported by Koushik

Affects Status Importance Assigned to Milestone
pidgin (Ubuntu)
Confirmed

Bug Description

Binary package hint: pidgin

When I start a chat with my friend and send him any text (say hi or whatever) then chat window becomes darker. Not responding state I guess..
If I try to click on it Force quit option comes. I have checked this for 5 times and every time it is behaving in the similar fashion.

Thanks,
Koushik

yeah I reinstalled compiz today itself but I restarted my system after
installing compiz and then I tried pidgin.
Do you want me to disable compiz and then try?

Thanks,

Thanks for reporting this bug.

Please try follow the instructions at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Backtrace, so we can get a backtrace from pidgin.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Remy.

I don't think compiz is involved. The window grays out just because compiz realized that the application does not respond. It is a compiz effect.

Perhaps you could do the backtracing thing (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Backtrace), or at least run pidgin in debug mode (pidgin --debug) and attach any output you get from it.

Which protocol are you using?
