Facebook contacts can't be merged/moved to other groups

Bug Description

What do I expect?
When I merge two contacts they should stay merged. When I move a contact to a specific group, the contact should stay in that group.

What happens instead:
1. merge facebook contact with another contact (only checked for ICQ) or move contact to another group
2. reconnect facebook account
3. all facebook contacts are moved to a facebook group again - merging with other contacts is lost

#534367 was a similar bug that caused the same problems for myspace, status: fix-released.

I have the same groups on facebook and pidgin. The contacts are properly arranged in groups on Facebook site and also were organized in the same way (groups) in pidgin (merged with other contacts).

But now they were all moved to the group "Amigos do Facebook" (PT-BR) and even moving the contacts back to the group that I want, when I reconnect they are in "Amigos do Facebook" group.

Since I do not know if this should be part of the bug's description or not, I'm giving this information as a comment:

Renaming a facebook contact will also be reverted.

A guess from me to locate the problem: pidgin does not remember the facebook contact list correctly. Not just contacts, but pidgin thinks that the "before-reconnect" and "after-reconnect" list are two completely different lists (this could explain why all facebook contacts are recreated in a separate facebook group).

Still happening in Pidgin 1:2.10.6-0ubuntu2.1 on Ubuntu 12.10 64-bit.

Pidgin developers say there is nothing they can do about it: https://developer.pidgin.im/ticket/14788 .

Someone made a patch for this issue, though ( http://forum.scilor.com/viewtopic.php?t=986 ), but the included instructions tell *nix users to compile it themselves. Can anyone please post detailed instructions on how to do so? I'm comfortable with using a terminal, however a bit lost when it comes to compiling stuff.
