Bug Description

--- Information about the system ---
Flavor: Kubuntu 18.04.1

1) $ lsb_realease -rd
Description: Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS
Release: 18.04

2) plasma-workspace:
  Instalado: 4:5.12.6-0ubuntu0.1
  Candidato: 4:5.12.6-0ubuntu0.1
  Tabela de versão:
 *** 4:5.12.6-0ubuntu0.1 500

        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
     4:5.12.4-0ubuntu3 500
        500 http://br.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu bionic/universe amd64 Packages

--- Problem description --

3) I expected that the desktop session would begin after login, to all users.

4) After upgrading from 18.04 to 18.04.1, plasma shell started to crash after login. It crashes and stays crashed. This situation occurs to all users in the system.

--- Further thoughts ---

I've already tried:

a) to delete the ~/.local/share/kactivitymanagerd folder and restart the system;
b) to delete the cache and restart the system;
c) to remove the printer definition (because on the internet there were people suggesting this) and try to reinstall it;
d) to remove the package plasma-discover;

Nothing has worked so far.

This bug renders the system almost unusable because there are no menus, icons, system tray, etc. On can still open apps by usging Alt+F2 and typing their names. However, this is difficult for non tech savvy users.

I decided to try to get more information. When plasmashell crashes, I can run Alt+F2 and start a Ksonsole session. During that session, I've tried to restart plasmashell at the prompt (it crashes again) and here is the output:
