Bug Description

Binary package hint: usplash

When using the Ubuntu "Hardware Drivers" screen, it doesn't give any progress feedback when installing nVidia graphics card drivers. After choosing a driver version to install, clicking "Activate", entering my root password, a progress dialog box appears, but remains at 0% during the entire installation process. The screen disappears and the drivers are installed.

So, they are installed correctly, I assume, but I ran the installer a few times until I realized they really were installed since I didn't get any feedback.

This is a new install of 8.10:
Linux primary 2.6.27-7-generic #1 SMP Tue Nov 4 19:33:20 UTC 2008 i686 GNU/Linux

Attached is lspci -vv.

The original report lists usplash as the binary package hint. Please disregard that, it is incorrect.
