Bug Description
Binary package hint: synaptic
System is Debian Lenny/Hybrid:
Attempted to mark all packages under category "games" by clicking games, then clicking the first item, then scrolling to the bottom, then holding shift and clicking the last item, then right clicking on a selected row and clicking mark for installation. The system takes a while obviously doing dependency calculations. Within minutes, a popup appears telling me it needs to select more packages for dependencies. I click the affirmative button (i'm not looking at this popup right now), it takes a few more minutes, then it comes up with a dependency error on roughly 5% of the games packages (and dependencies).
Here's the problem:
I click the affirmative button on that error popup, but instead of having only the installable packages selected, nothing has changed with the selection. I cannot spend the time clicking each game package down the line to get them selected, i need a fast selection method.
Any suggestions on an alternative manager (other than adept (doesn't install) or kpackage (doesn't do highlighting of multiple packages and mark all is useless)) that can do the above without problems until this desperately needed feature is added?

Thanks for reporting this bug and any supporting documentation. Since this bug has enough information provided for a developer to begin work, I'm going to mark it as confirmed and let them handle it from here. Thanks for taking the time to make Ubuntu better!
