I can confirm there's no choice for what dictionary the speller use.

Tomboy uses GtkSpell for it's spell checking, and GtkSpell uses GNU Aspell.
I have several languages installed for the Aspell dictionary, but there is no way to tell GtkSpell or Tomboy which dictionary i wish to use.

It's not a bug though,, just lack of a *very* basic feature.

There should be a way to use multiple languages in the spell checking mechanism.

This indeed a lack of an incredibly basic and, I imagine, most useful feature. I have seen other apps miss this point too, though. In light of this, wouldn't a panel app for changing the current (or default) language for GtkSpell be a neat idea?

Best regards,

F

That feature is something I also miss a lot.
But should this choice be made globally for tomboy or should it be possible to choose à a specific language for each note (in that case this language would be some how be attached to the note) ?

This is fixed in gtkspell 2.0.15 by adding a language selection menu to the right-click menu. It is not in Ubuntu yet but you canget it from my repository: https://launchpad.net/~hassanakevazir/+archive/farsitools

Hassanake, great news about the new feature in gtkspell 2.0.15! But I think users still want to be able to set a preferred spellcheck language in Tomboy, so we'd better leave this bug open to track that.

I am using Tomboy 1.15.4 on Ubuntu 14.04. For some strange reason Tomboy is (randomly?) underlining perfectly correct English words. I would like to check or switch the language but as this bugs attests, it is not possible. I would prefer this feature to be outright de-activated.
