Bug Description

Using apt-get to install the ubuntu-desktop-next package on Ubuntu 14.10 amd64 it does not automatically install one particular dependency that is very much available for installation through apt-get without making any changes to the default sources configuration. Here's the error I received:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
 ubuntu-desktop-next : Depends: packagekit
E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.

Once I explicitly installed packagekit, ubuntu-desktop-next installed just fine.

I can confirm this, the problem seems to be:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
python3-aptdaemon.pkcompat : Conflicts: packagekit but 0.8.17-4ubuntu4 is to be installed.
The following actions will resolve these dependencies:

Keep the following packages at their current version:
1) python3-aptdaemon.pkcompat [Not Installed]

The apt resolver seems to choke on the fact that something pulls in libpackagekit, which recommends either python3-aptdaemon.pkcompat or packagekit, and it doesn't seem to know which one to choose.

Should ubuntu-desktop-next depend on packagekit directly?
