Bug Description
The error occured while I was install another programme (spyder). I presume it was a conflict in permissions to apt-get that caused the crash.

OK, sorry, I've seen there's a malformed line in sources.list, although I thought I'd fixed that based on an earlier error message. The line reads:
deb http:// www.stats. bris.ac. uk/R/bin/ linux/ubuntu precise/
I find this puzzling, as I'd already installed R from this repository earlier with the line reading as it does.
Regards,
Tim
