I clicked on the fast user switch applet, switched to a guest session, then i switched back to my first session, and after i logged back in it said it crashed.

I just recreated this bug. I too did the same thing. Logged into guest session and as soon as I switched back, the update-notifier crashed.
Trying to start update-notifier from the command line did not help. It produced nothing on the terminal nor did it launch

Same thing happened to me.

- Go to guest session - Log out
- Back on main user update-notifier crashes.

Also when I restarted my computer update-notifier crashed on logon
