Bug Description

on Ubuntu 16.04.1 Modem 03f0:931d not switched and appear as a Network card instead of a broadband mobile.

As a note : Installing latest modeswitch and modeswitchdata ( 20160803 ) from Zesty make it appear as a mobile broadband device (but not initialized but this will be another bug report)

usb_modeswitch is only responsible for switching a device or (as in this case) select the config containing the cdc_mbim composition.
That's all usb_modeswitch does, what else needs to be done for bringing up the connection is done by other programs.

Hi I don't see any update of modeswitch data in 16.04.2 to support this modem Huawei ME936 M.2 , does the LTS backports allow update of such package ? Or for 16.04.3 maybe ?

I've backported usb-modeswitch 2.4 and usb-modeswich-data 2017-01 from Ubuntu 17.04 (Zesty) to 16.04 LTS (Xenial), you can update packages from ppa:baltix-members , see
https://launchpad.net/~baltix-members/+archive

Please reboot after installing usb-modeswitch 2.4 and usb-modeswich-data 2017-01 from ppa:baltix-members , test if your USB modem works correctly with updated packages and write a comment here in any case (works or not).
