In case it's useful to know;

If I hover over the top left corner of the screen, where the name 'Virtual Machine Manager' is shown, the menu appears. I'd anticipated it appearing as part of the application's window next to the icons. Screenshot attached for info

@Steve - that is a common Unity thing to place the menu at the global level.

@Erik - can you state what Release you are on and maybe provide a sceenshot as well illustrating what exactly is there and what is missing?

I have the same issue on 17.04 (upgraded from 16.10).

Even when using ALT+F or ALT+(type desired menu item - e.g. Virtual Machine Details), nothing happens (no visual feedback or errors).

Unfortunately, I cannot say when this behaviour started since I use Remmina-Next to connect to and work on the local VM (Windows vitrualize workstation on my Ubuntu workstation). So I seldom interact with virt-manager (or simply use CLI to do whatever I need done).

Hope this helps.

Cheers!
