Bug Description

Binary package hint: xchat

Any attempt to make XChat beep does nothing in Ubuntu 10.10
there's another old bug (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xchat/+bug/41426) where it says it's been fixed, this is -not- the case...

I think this may relate to the root cause of Bug 188617, see comment 6 I left there:

You may want to look at the code and see if it's using the system/x beep, if so then the issue is probably the same.
