Sebastian, I am having this error in Jaunty Alpha 6 and I cannot find the duplicate bug, I reopen this one.

Some more information:
Empty folders are correctly localized, but not the non-empty ones.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner.
There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if you could test the current Ubuntu development version (10.10). If you can test it, and it is still an issue, we would appreciate if you could upload updated logs by running apport-collect 226346, and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue.

This bug is now reported to upstream. Since Freedesktop doesn't have a LP project, I set Debian as the project name but the actual upstream report is at http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=15765

It's an error to [try to] rename standard folders because there may exist references to their files.
That is why xdg-user-dirs does not rename nonempty folders.
But this is indeed inconvenient and there is a solution that is not.
The correct solution is to create symbolic links as explained in
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=32342
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xdg-user-dirs/+bug/556933
In consequence, I have made the incorrect bugs duplicates of these.

Unduplicating - how a bug can be a duplicate of a feature request?

Hello I do not think it should be in wishlist, because in Ubuntu 13.10 it does not rename any folders, not matter if they are empty or not.

Hi. Do the names of your system folders appear in Czech or in English on your desktop (menu >Places ...)?
Could you please post the output of ls -l ~/
where you keep only the names of the system folders in Czech and/or English like this?
