Bug Description

Binary package hint: xorg

With this package and a Wacom CTL-460 bamboo pen table, the cursor "sticks": moving the pen moves the cursor, but once the tablet is touched with the pen, the position is freezed for as long as the pen is maintained close to the tablet. If the pen is moved away from the tablet, the position of the cursor eventually follows again (after about 5 seconds) the position of the pen hovering above the tablet. It makes the tablet unusable.

Reverting to xserver-xorg-input-wacom (1:0.10.6-0ubuntu6) solves the problem.

I had fixed this by downgrading to xserver-xorg-input-wacom to 1:0.10.5-0ubuntu4 (lucid), as that was the only alternative available to me. Today, however, an update came out for wacom-dkms (perhaps unrelated)? I'm back to this behavior.

I try to install the uptate to wacom-dkms. It does not install correctly, as
it is looking for a previous version of the kernel (2.6.32-25-generic if my
memory serves me right). I had to revert to version 0.8.8-0ubuntu3.

exact same problem here.

I use the packages xserver-xorg-input-wacom and wacom-dkms from ppa:doctormo/wacom-plus for some months without problems on Lucid.

updates came

grep -i wacom -R /var/log/dpkg.log
2011-03-03 19:59:48 upgrade xserver-xorg-input-wacom 1:0.10.6-0ubuntu6 1:0.10.11-0ubuntu7
2011-03-13 19:42:42 upgrade wacom-dkms 0.8.8-0ubuntu3 0.8.10.2-1ubuntu1

I hadn't used the table for a while, so I don't know when it stopped working.
I noticed the problem only today

Like for Chris, downgrading xserver-xorg-input-wacom to 1:0.10.5-0ubuntu4 (lucid) solved it.

so now
dpkg -l | grep wacom
ii wacom-dkms 0.8.10.2-1ubuntu1 Wacom kernel driver in DKMS format
ii xserver-xorg-input-wacom 1:0.10.5-0ubuntu4 X.Org X server -- Wacom input driver

I've just pinned xserver-xorg-input-wacom until the bug gets resolved and a new version put on the ppa

Changed in xf86-input-wacom (Ubuntu):
status: New → Confirmed

Ok guys, i don't even know how to use this, but i'm here to try some
helping

I got problems like this, my pen could hover and move the cursor, but when i
touch the table, the cursor stuck. This happend when i installed an update to
ubuntu Kernel.
I'm very newb and i'm just beginning in Linux, so i can't say clearly how this
hppens, but i got the solution after some days of researching.
I solved my problem by downgrading the xorg to the following version:

xserver-xorg-input-wacom ver.1:0.10.5-0ubuntu4

The problematic version was xserver-xorg-input-wacom ver.1:0.10.11-0ubuntu7, and
i uninstalled it and forced the installation of the older version. It worked as
a glove when i restarted my computer

So, if you are experiencing this kind of problem on Lucid, try this and pass
this message forward.

Cya guys
