Bug Description

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-psb

jhess@jhess-kjs-sx3-ubuntu:~$ lsb_release -rd
Description: Ubuntu intrepid (development branch)
Release: 8.10
jhess@jhess-kjs-sx3-ubuntu:~$ apt-cache policy xserver-xorg-video-psb
xserver-xorg-video-psb:
  Installed: 0.2.1-1ubuntu3
  Candidate: 0.2.1-1ubuntu3
  Version table:
 *** 0.2.1-1ubuntu3 0

        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
jhess@jhess-kjs-sx3-ubuntu:~$

it seems the ABI major version of psb does not match that of xorg -- see attached Xorg.99.log.

also, in trying to find the issue myself, i cannot successfully build the psb from source under intrepid - via:
apt-get build-essential
apt-get build-dep xserver-xorg-video-psb
apt-get source xserver-xorg-video-psb

sudo configure completes successfully, but make fails due to missing include xf86mm.h. this file is absent in libdrm-dev v2.3.1. fwiw, i can build the package from source under hardy -- which is using libdrm-dev v2.3.0 and does have xf86mm.h.

the driver is not ported to use libpciaccess, so even with a newer libdrm it still wouldn't build.

I'm being hit by this bug during my testing of Intrepid's beta-1 image. This should be considered a regression since the 8.04.1 live CD has no problems on the same hardware.

I attach the two X log files corresponding to the two live CDs.

I'm testing a prototype Atom-based tablet PC to see if we can get Ubuntu running on it. 8.04.1 handles the display well but fails to detect the hard drive. 8.10 beta detects the hard drive but fails to load X :-(

Any chance this is going to be fixed before 8.10 release? The little activity here tells me that the answer is no, but I just want to ask.

Is there any additional information that may be required to address this bug?
