Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. The issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers of the software by following the instructions at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME. If you have done so, please tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can add a bugwatch that will inform us about its status. Thanks in advance.

A backtrace is needed, setting this as incomplete until that is provided. thanks.

I have a bug which I *think* is the same as this. I have an amd64 Maverick system running yelp 2.30.1-0ubuntu1, and when I run yelp I get the following to stderr:

(yelp:4672): Gtk-CRITICAL **: IA__gtk_tool_button_new: assertion `icon_widget == NULL || GTK_IS_MISC (icon_widget)' failed

(yelp:4672): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: invalid (NULL) pointer instance

(yelp:4672): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_signal_connect_data: assertion `G_TYPE_CHECK_INSTANCE (instance)' failed

(yelp:4672): Gtk-CRITICAL **: IA__gtk_toolbar_insert: assertion `GTK_IS_TOOL_ITEM (item)' failed

(yelp:4672): Gtk-CRITICAL **: IA__gtk_tool_button_new: assertion `icon_widget == NULL || GTK_IS_MISC (icon_widget)' failed

(yelp:4672): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: invalid (NULL) pointer instance

(yelp:4672): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_signal_connect_data: assertion `G_TYPE_CHECK_INSTANCE (instance)' failed

(yelp:4672): Gtk-CRITICAL **: IA__gtk_toolbar_insert: assertion `GTK_IS_TOOL_ITEM (item)' failed
Segmentation fault

A window flashes momentarily on the screen. I created a backtrace with the command

strace yelp &> yelp.strace

and I am attaching that file. If that is satisfactory (and this is really the same bug), then I will submit the trace upstream at https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=633442. However, I did not follow the instructions at http://live.gnome.org/GettingTraces for getting the debug symbols. I would be pleased to do that, if it is necessary in this case. Please advise.
