What changed? Im not sure, possibly ibus went from Ctrl+Space (which the default was changed to Super+Space, but there was a patch to keep it Ctrl+Space for some amount of time?). Im linking a branch that gets the shortcut not matter what it is...hopefully this fixes this issue. As the issue looks like ibus is not activating.
