Launcher hidden when apps open due to 1px

Bug Description

Applications are opening by default with a space on the left hand side, so that the launcher may remain open when the app is not maximized. The app is being initially placed 1px too much to the left hand side, though, which causes the launcher to remain closed when most of its space is actually available.
