Unity panel doesn't get drawn

Hello. I've updated to 11.04 Natty Narwhal and the Unity panels don't get drawn for me. I know the panel is there, i can operate the little icons in the upper right corner but i just cannot see them (except for the Skype icon). Also the panel does cast a shadow. I'll attach a screenshot so you see what i mean. I hope this is not a duplicate bug report, i tried to look for an existing bugreport but i didn't find one.

Unity-2d works fine, and the Gnome desktop too. I have a vertical two-screen setup (which is just lovely, by the way), but disabling the second screen doesn't make a difference. My machine is an Asus EeePC 901 with Intel 945GME chipset.
