Bug Description

Steps to reproduce:

System > Administration > Update Manager

Preferences button > OK button > Reload button

Error: Unable to get exclusive lock

This usually means that another package management application (like apt-get or
aptitude) already running. Please close that application first.

This locking issue should be fixed in the current dapper version of update-manager. Can you confirm this?

Is there any way to test it in Breezy, so if I have some problem I can revert to the previous version?

I am afraid I cannot run the unstable branch on my computer. Sorry for that.

A pretty save way is to download our live-cd to test it, but that requires good bandwith of course. I hope to make a backport of update-manager available sometime soon in a private repository (to test some other features as well).

Same again - new kbunutu download and install on Dell Laptop. Just a little more info here - it happens when the Adept manager has finished its download and install and then reports a new version upgrade is available.
