Bug Description

How to reproduce :

- Install Windows 8

- Run Wubi , the installer goes normally and suggests to reboot later at the end , Choose reboot now.

- The Windows loader correctly reboots automatically on the Wubi entry so the text displayed suggest that the ubuntu install will carry on

- the mount error is displayed : "cannot mound /dev/sdaX : the system is in hibernation mode, you can mount it by specifying remove hiberfil etc...."

So I guess that by default windows8 restart by hibernating which render impossible to mount the NTFS partition without discarding the hibersys file.

Windows doesn't present the windows boot manager after hibernation. So it shouldn't be possible to do what you stated. Unless Windows 8 has changed this but it seems unlikely (since even booting a different Windows would likely cause problems on a hibernated filesystem).

On my win8, after hibernate it boots straight into Windows (no Ubuntu option)
After restart, Wubi boots normally if selected.
On shutdown, Wubi boots normally if selected. (I have the default 'Fast startup' option enabled.)

I confirm that Ubuntu 12.04 is not able to mount a NTFS partition which contain a hiberfil.sys (this bug don't affect Ubuntu 11.10 and 10.04, only 12.04) : see https://bugs.launchpad.net/wubi/+bug/1042159 ) No problem if Ubuntu is installed in a NTFS partition different of the Win8 partition. But in case of Ubuntu installed in the Win8 partition, Ubuntu don't works
