Bug Description

After I encountered a bug that made xfce4-volumed and mixer applet take up 100% I wondered what volumed was good for exactly and it is described as managing volume multimedia keys, however I could find no way to bind a key to the expected actions. I do not have multimedia keys on my keyboard, but I would rather use xfce4-volumed than any other program that doesn't integrate as nicely.
I was expecting 'xfce4-volumed --help' or 'man xfce4-volumed' to give me a simple command line; like "xfce4-volumed --raise 5' or a dbus command, so I could enter that into the application shortcut settings.

Hello,

Adding a way to change keyboard shortcuts is planned in the next version of xfce4-volumed, but I don't think I'll write it before this summer. At the moment you need to change the source and rebuild xfce4-volumed in order to chose your own keyboard shortcuts...

Changed in xfce4-volumed:

As a workaround, you can use the standard keyboards shortcuts (Settings / Keyboard). The respective commands are:

amixer sset PCM 5+
amixer sset Master 5-
amixer sset Master toggle

meaning:
increase volume by 5 for PCM control
decrease volume by 5 for Master control
toggle mute/unmute for Master control

Note that the change of volume is still catched by xfce4 volume daemon and it shows notifications.

"amixer scontrols" will show you the names of simple controls.
