Bug Description

Water crates are possibly my most hated thing in YR, not because they're on water, but because they don't always work.

The problem lies with free units inside crates, a great thing if you happen to be on land, irritating as hell if they happen to be on water.

If a water crate has a free unit in it, you won't be able to collect it, not with a seal, dolphin, sub, scorpion, ANYTHING.

You ALSO can't put boats in crates, as then the same would happen on land.

The game obviously knows when a crate is on water, so can it be made so either free unit crates don't appear on water or (this is my preference) tank crates only appear on land, and boat crates only appear on water.

I don't see any problems with any other crates on water.

##### STEPS TO REPRODUCE #####
try grabbing a crate on water, it'll happen soon enough.

I must have real bad luck then... just tested with minimum 100 crates, which should provide enough water crates for testing, and the game didn't produce a unit crate on the water even once. Though crates on the ground spwaned plenty of free units. I'll look into the code.

thats odd.

Unless it's one of the other crates, possibly stealth?

either way, I can't collect certain crates on water............

EDIT:

It's also possible that it's the explosion crate, but thats got such a tiny weighting in my mod it can't be, the crates appear too much.

I have noticed certain water crates do redirect water units around them on the first attempt to collect them, but crate content is determined at collection time only, so I'm not sure what the diversion factor is.
Overall, though, crate processing is completely pathetic, so you can bet that it will be getting a rewrite soon.

not that it martters, but I got redirected several times.

just had a thought, you know how there's ALWAYS an MCV in a crate when the AI loses a base? could be that........

Isn't it that there's always a crate when you lack a ConYard/MCV?
