Bug Description
Hi,
I've found that once SVG files get to a certain complexity, Inkscape becomes extremely slow in accepting typed text - it can take several seconds for each character to appear (making it no longer workable to use that file).
In this state typed space characters and sometimes other characters can be omitted from the final text. Pasting text into a text box works normally and other functions - dragging objects, etc. are unaffected. Also, I can have another (less complex) file open in another instance of Inscape at the same time and have no problems typing in that file (i.e. it's not a lack of system resources).
I'm running Inkscape 4.8.2 r9818 on a 64 bit Windows 7 machine with 4GB of RAM with more than enough free HDD space. Neither memory nor CPU max out while typing in this state.
A complex SVG file is attached for independent testing.
Thanks for your help!
Andrew
Confirmed on Windows XP, Inkscape trunk revision 11047.
Workaround: using the Text and Fonts dialog to edit updates the text object quickly when the Apply button is pressed.
