As I suspected... strip just removed the terminal s. would happen with any of the substrings I gave it. Here's a patch that fixes the problem. It will be applied in the next release (today or tomorrow). To apply it yourself in the meantime to version 12.07.5, do the following:
cd /opt/extras.ubuntu.com/drawers/drawers
patch < 'downloadpath'/execline.patch
