The old interface does appear to be working properly on my end. It will save data. I used it frequently to check my work when building the port.

Here is a branch with the new Coded Value Maps UI, and clicking on the "Manage" link will let you edit and save Composite Attribute Entry Definitions. It shows a composite data expression, just like the old UI.
