And with the introduction of one more tool icon (3d boxes) it became difficult to use in GNOME with the default panels, on screens with a vertical resolution of 800 or less (wide screen laptops using 1280x800 for example), unless the tool panel is removed from the main window. Maybe the tool panel could adjust to window size like the horizontal tool panels do and be used as a horizontal panel too.
