Foto as default viewer

Bug Description
Hi guys.
I'm using Foto as my default picture viewer, with gThumb as an alternative
It was listed in my default applications in Switchboard but now it's gone, I cannot tell when or why. Even after re-installing Foto it still does not appear there any more.
However, the system is still using it as a default app but only for PNG files, although it's not listed in Default app.
What is weird is that I cannot set it up to use with JPG files. Even when I use in Files "open with - other app - Foto - set as default" the system opens the file once with Foto but never permanently create a JPG file association with the Foto application so next time I'm back to gThumb.
I'm sorry if I put this one in the wrong category but I figure someone will know where this bug belongs ;-)

Also, it should be possible to choose Foto as the default viewer from Switchboard --> Defaults
