Bug Description

You might want to consider the possible benefits of recruiting additional manpower by becoming a GSoC/google summer of code project, so that students working on the project may get a stipend.

for a possible application it would probably be a good idea to provide sound background information about the project, including the fact that GNUsim8085 has recently become an "award winning" multi-platform 8085 emulator featuring an embedded development environment, including an assembler and debugger. Also, some interesting suggestions for projects should probably be summarized, as implementing a single feature only would probably not really satisfy the gsoc requirements. Well, maybe for the exception of generalizing the simulator to also emulate other processors and architectures, but most other RFEs are probably too trivial if implemented in isolation

note that there's also the "help wanted"/"people" department in sourceforge, where registered projects may post job openings for new volunteers to join a project for specific support, efforts, sub projects etc.
It's possible to provide detailed information about the required/recommended background of developers including their amount of experience. For example, in the context of GNUsim8085 this might mean:

- C programming experience, intermediate knowledge
- familiar with assembly language or willingness to become familiar with the basics
- familiar with the 8085 ISA or derivates of it
- basic familiarity with GTK

however, note that it is not necessary for volunteers to possess all of these attributes, rather certain efforts may only require a subset of the skills listed, likewise other ideas may require additional expertise.

the application deadline is closing tomorrow.

Current ideas are collected at http://gnusim8085.sourceforge.net/gsoc2k8_ideas.html

Some of these might benefit from linking directly to the related tracker items for more in-depth descriptions.

why not simply try to recruit more developers using the sourceforge facilities?
I mean, any registered SF.net project can post openings for volunteers, providing details about the project, the development area and required expertise and people can come and check out the project and its TODO list/ROADMAP so that they can see if they'd like to get involved or not

Just go to http://sourceforge.net/people/ and post openings for developers

another way to get more volunteers involved would be to explicitly ask for involvement via the welcome/about/help dialogs, there could be some statement saying:

"C Programmers Needed: We are looking for volunteers to help us improve GNUSim8085, if you know C and maybe even Gtk, feel free to get in touch with us"

What I am trying to say is that the project needs to COMMUNICATE its need for contributors/volunteers - this should be reflected in both, the website AND the program itself.

But this in itself is not sufficient: there are already some contributors who sent in patches.

But these patches were not yet reviewed/discussed or committed - so this also needs fixing, either there need to be more active people with SVN privileges or a decentralized SCM system like git has to be used.
