Comment 18 for bug 1315858

At the SANE project, we have had another report of this issue here: https://gitlab.com/sane-project/backends/-/issues/542

It looks like the issue appears in the hpaio backend. Please refer to the above linked report to let us know if we can supply any additional information or help! I can reliably reproduce the crash using the code sample in the bug description. Additionally, taking the sane_init() and sane_exit() out of the thread and into main() prevents the crash. Disabling the hpaio backend prevents the crash.

Edit: this was reproduced on Linux Mint 19.3 with sane-backend from head of git (post 1.0.32), libc + libpthread 2.27
