Control+N works great if Nautilus is *already* running. However, if you press Control+N in any other application it will perform the function assigned to that key combination. For instance, if you are in Geany, it will open a new window, etc.

The idea that I proposed is to enable a key combination to open a Nautilus window globally, so you can open Nautilus directly from any application (a bit like using Control+A+D to close/open all active windows). This is a shortcut key that I really miss, and I think that many people can also benefit from it. Even if it is not enabled by default, maybe it could be added to the key combinations available.
