The problem tracked here (bug #1323061) seems to affect inkscape on recent Ubuntu flavours installations mostly (e.g. Kubuntu, Lubuntu).
Whether or not the originally reported issue of bug #1257413 (crash with "The program 'inkscape' received an X Window System error.") has the same underlying issue (very likely a conflict with GTK+ input modules) is not known to me.
