Hi Alvin,

Despite the code lying around, Inkscape does not currently support dxf import. The fix is not going to be as simple as fixing the mime-type, since the converter doesn't seem to work. There is an open request for this feature at bug 170440, and it is currently listed in the project roadmap as being targeted for release 0.51. Please join in the discussion at that other bug.
