I have been struckling with the import command, as it kept deleting the layers from my dxf-files. But then I read through the whole thread and found that you at your comment the 1. of February explains, that layered dxf-files only will be imported with layers if they are "opened" and not imported. https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/293940/comments/29
What I am saying / proposing is:
Should there be written a "manual" for your routine of how to use it and so fort? Do you need help to do this, or how does this work in general for the routines of Inkscape?
I have attached the original dxf-file and the two different svg-results. One imported and one opened, if someone needs and example of the above described.
Please let me know if I can be at any help before the 0.47 release,
