I encountered this today as well. When multiple docs are open, they should be autosaved with their saved names, like

     mysamplepicture-autosave-0-2009_07_15_17_11_14-001.svg

and not just be called

     inkscape-autosave-0-2009_07_15_17_11_14-001.svg

This should not be difficult to implement.
