I agree with #25, #26, and #27.
Because it should be possible to have white around an image, exporting "area is page" should work like it does for PDF. This has nothing to do with the EPS-standard imho. Because one could argue that the white area around some black stuff should also deliberately be 'drawn', the bbox definition in the standard is ambiguous.

"Export area is page (strictly standard compliant)" is a very confusing name. Moreover, when would this behavior be desired, and what extra does it offer above "export area is drawing"?
I propose to revert "export area is page" behavior to 0.46 and 0.45.1 behavior ("make bounding box around full page").

(yes, 0.45.1 and 0.46 behave the same, probably the anomaly is 0.47.)
