Switching to the nearest visible layer would solve the problem of needing 3 clicks (actually 4 now, in conjunction with the bug #201203 "focus issues when using docked palettes") to take something from one layer then hide it, paste into another, and go back to editing in the canvas. This basic process right now is a minefield that saps a lot of mental cycles.
Should be, for my process:
* un-hide source layer
* select all, copy
* re-hide source layer
* un-hide desination layer
* paste
* zoom in or out in the canvas
No additional keystrokes or mouse interaction required.
