«The distinction between snap sources and snap targets has been removed from the snap buttons (as of rev >= #10571). Now each group of snap buttons simply has a single toggle button, which turns all sources and targets in that group on/off. That's now all there is to it.»

As far as I understand, this change also causes that nodes (e.g. corners of rectangles) no longer are active snap sources in the select tool automatically, but have to be activated to allow to snap cusp (or smooth) nodes to other snap options (like grid or guides).

Among the side effects are:
- with the default template, objects no longer snap to grid or guides when dragged with the node tool
- a more fine-tuned node snapping is no longer possible in the select tool context (snap to path without snapping to nodes as well, snap cusp nodes to smooth nodes only, snap corners to midpoints of segments but not to other nodes, snap with nodes to grid only but not to other nodes, etc.) or requires additional steps (lots of zooming in/out, or moving objects to temporary layers to hide them if they interfere with or even prevent the intended snapping)
