Hello Petter,

Thanks for taking the time to submit this request. With a new package requests, we evaluate if it would be a good fit for IUS and if it is maintainable with our current resources. There are a few factors to consider here.

1. PHP 5.3 is only supported upstream until July 2014 [0]. Because of this, if we accept this request, we will not build for the php53u series.

2. There is no existing package in Fedora or EPEL for this module. As Enterprise Linux is based on Fedora, we usually start with a Fedora spec file when we create a new IUS package. The lack of an existing spec file to base our work on could significantly increase the development time for this package. Additionally, following the path laid out by an existing Fedora package helps us with long term maintenance related to patches and security issues.

3. The primary goal of IUS is to package newer versions of software that is already available for Enterprise Linux. As this package is not currently available, it does not technically fit within our scope.

We will keep this bug open to continue to evaluate. The best first step would be to work towards getting this package into Fedora [1], which is a process you can pursue separately from IUS.
