Bug Description
1. Log out of Launchpad, if you are not logged out already.
2. Visit a bug report for a project/package for which you are the maintainer (or a member of the maintaining team).
3. Expand the section of the "Affects" table for your project/package.
What you see: "You are not the bug assignee nor the maintainer of {context}, and therefore cannot edit this bug's status."
What you should see: "You need to log in to change this bug’s status." (As pointed out by William Grant in bug 252827, you don't need to be the assignee or maintainer; you just need to be logged in at all.)
It may save time to fix bug 96751 at the same time as this bug.

I just hit this again due to Launchpad for some reason (an lp upgrade?) losing my authentication credentials, and was momentarily confused.
