I know it's a long time, but I'm cleaning up old NTP bugs atm.
This has been fixed upstream since 4.2.7p461 which is in Xenial and later.
They added a -w flag to keep the default output unchanged, but provide a way to get wider output printed correctly.
Thereby setting fix released.
