In addition to snapcraft-desktop-helpers, it appears that at least some snaps that don't use the helpers are getting this wrong. Ian Johnson mentioned that the 'peruse' snap suffers from this. IMHO, snapd on principle shouldn't be in the business of second guessing publisher intent wrt creating or fixing .cache directories in the snap data directories and that this is technically a 'snap problem'. While that may be true, we should be open to discussing potential remediations.

It is clear that if XDG_CACHE_HOME is set and a (eg, staged) library is not setting the permissions to 0700, then that library would clearly need a fix.
