There usually is a power indicator if your computer has a battery (if it is a laptop usually), so it must be something with your hardware's compatibility.

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Could you please run "apport-collect 711862" from the terminal? You might also want to take a look at the debugging instructions located at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingGNOMEPowerManager and submit any other logs related to your problem. Thanks in advance.

This way we might get the information about your computer that might help us to fix this "hardware incompatibility" if that's the problem there.
