On Xubuntu 12.04, Compiz starts for the first time without any of the plugins enabled. This even includes all the General plugins such as Composite and OpenGL.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Log in as a new user (no existing ccsm settings)
2. Install compiz:
sudo apt-get install compiz compiz-gnome compizconfig-settings-manager
3. Start compiz:
compiz --replace ccp
4. In CCSM: note that none of the plugins are active
Notes:
- the $DESKTOP_SESSION is "xubuntu"
- there is no "xubuntu" entry in /etc/compizconfig/config
One solution might be to add a xubuntu profile under /etc/compizconfig/config, with the backend set to ini. The profile should ideally be a sane set of plugins. Perhaps even using the "unity" profile would be a sensible default. |
