When you re-opened passwordsafe to do your import, did you open the test database again, or did you start over with a new database?

This matters because while some (system-related) settings are stored in ~/.pwsafe/pwsafe.cfg, many (most?) of the other settings are stored in the password database itself. Using a new DB means you get the default settings.
