GaryC, this bug is for a different issue. In this bug, the whole system does not lock up, just the rdesktop client. The client can be killed without restarting the system.

Rdesktop 1.6.0 was released in May 2008. As far as I know development is ongoing. There are no other RDP clients for linux.
