Go to the repository dialog to correct the problem.

This is what I got when I went into the Synaptic Package. It told me to use the /etc/apt/sources.list from the software properties command. I have no clue what has happened.What is the repository dialog pls help I am trying to learn this as I go. No one has taught me about Ubuntu/Linux program. I am use to windows. I have had this for only a week and am a pure novice to this program.
