The "real problem" here, I feel, is not that TB's trying to do its job and do bayesian classification: it's the lack of feedback on the UI, and the impossibility to turn this off easily.
I mean: usually, I'll have my laptop connected to my office LAN, or to my home ADSL, and everything's good.
Sometimes, however, I'll be at the airport, with a *very* expensive WiFi or UMTS connection, and I'd like to have something better than having to start TB offline, disable Adaptive Spam Filter, go online, etc.
Maybe something like a "vulcan nerve pinch" to stop the bayesian filter downloads in emergency situations? Something better than just killing TB outright?
