Logged out and back in. All I started was a terminal to follow the output of .xsession-errors.
I then hit the Super key to bring up the dash (had to hit it twice) and launched Audacity. Launcher and top panel/global menu disappeared when Audacity window appeared. No window decoration on Audacity window. Hit Super-S a couple of times and the launcher and panel came back.
Closed Audacity and made a copy of .xsession-errors (attached).
