No buttons in shut down menu on login page

Bug Description

I recently upgraded to Ubuntu 14.04 from 13.10, and when I am logged in the shut down dialog box has the correct buttons that you can click - but from the login screen, there are no buttons to click.

Thank you for your bug report. Did you modify /etc/pam.d/common-session or use systemd? seems a bit similar to bug #1313726

Thanks for that - the advice in #1313726 solved my issue, this file may have been modified by a previous admin - I'm not sure, it didn't have an alternative version of the file to diff, and I hadn't modified it since the upgrade - but maybe I had skipped the dist that adds this line, as this particular build has gone through a number of upgrades over the years.
